Call to Worship

I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
My meditation of him shall be sweet,
for I will rejoice in the Lord.
Bless the Lord, O my soul;
Praise the Lord.
Amen.

Announcements

Starting on Time
The Nursery Schedule has been revised, please check it to see when your turn is. We are trying to get everyone to worship on time.  The way that you can help is to be in the nursery before worship so that the parents can drop off their child/children and make it to service on time.  Thanks for doing your part to make worship enjoyable for everyone.

Arriving Soon!
Please check your information on the directory and the phone list to  make sure everything is correct.  Place a check by your name on both sheets if it is fine. Make any necessary corrections if not. Also, if you have  an e-mail address without a block on it, please add it to the list.
Check it out to make sure it’s correct.

Know Him, Love Him, Share Him

Know Him...
Encouragement from John and Brenda

If God brings you to it,
He will bring you through it.

Love Him...

Pint-Sized Pulpit

Do you have ghosts in your past that determine your attitudes today?

  • Are you haunted by past decisions?
  • Past church experiences?
  • Past life-style choices?
  • Things that you cannot change?

Ebenezer Scrooge was visited by a ghost from his past, perhaps we should say, the ghost of his past in the novel A Christmas Carol. Scrooge is shown by the ghost of Christmas past a happy party from his own youth—given Freely by his old employer. Scrooge danced then. He smiled then, and had fondness for his fellowman. He sees a first love that he gave up, the first of many precious things he gave up, to pursue money. He gave up on the outmoded values of his old employer. Soon enough, his old employer was out of business. He had placed too high a concern on people.
Then Scrooge is shown the story of a life that day by day, decision by decision, became displaced. Scrooge became a man who could not conceive of generosity. He froze his clerk, Bob Cratchet, and paid him a meagerly salary.
Scrooge became a man who could not recognize the grace he refused, the sin he did, or the forgiveness he needed.
But even Scrooge's decisions were haunted by ghosts. The ghost of a cold, distant father. The ghost of a mother who died as a result of complications involved during his birth. The ghost of the death of his beloved sister, after she had given birth to his nephew-- he later rejected his nephew, much as his own father had rejected him.
Scrooge was challenged to break free of the past- to escape the ghosts of his past--and God is challenging us to do the same today!

In His Grace...For His Service,
Daniel

God is challenging us to do the same today!
