Who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love; Who satisfies you with good as long as you live. Bless the Lord, all his hosts, his servants that do his will! Bless the Lord, all his works, in all places of his dominion! Bless the Lord, O my soul! Amen.

Know Him, Love Him, Share Him
Know Him... Encouragement from John and Brenda. Thought for your journey:
To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.
Love Him...
Pint-Sized Pulpit
The third ghost to visit Ebenezer Scrooge that night in his bedchamber was the ghost of Christmas present. The ghost of Christmas present is the shortest lived of all the ghosts. The ghost of the past and future represent eons of time. The ghost of Christmas present passes before our eyes. In the millennia of human history, so too our present will fade away. The ghost of Christmas present is the most realistic. It pushes away the nostalgia and sorrow of the past, and keeps away the inevitable daydreams of the future, looking only far enough ahead to keep steering a straight course. The present is eminently practical. The first message of the ghost of Giving present is that what God asks of us is not simply an attitude, but actions. God does not demand elaborate worship or expensive displays of ostentation. He isn’t impressed by rituals or vast amounts of offerings. 1. God has shown us what is Good. 2. He requires us to DO justice to LOVE kindness and to WALK humbly with Him. God does not require stained glass or pipe organs. He does not ask that the communion wine be French or minister’s vestments Armani (Big and Tall). And he does not ask for you to sacrifice your children for the sins of your past. The ghost of Christmas present does not preach so much as show. He shows Scrooge the house of his employee, Bob Cratchet. He shows Scrooge a nephew who loves a grouchy, miserable old man for the sake of his dead mother. And while the ghost of Christmas present does get preachy about the plight of England’s lower class, his sermon moves not with a word, but a vision. The ghost takes Scrooge’s head and turns it where it should have been looking all along—toward his fellow man, and away from a world of commerce in which people are little more than animals for labor; fuel for the fire of consumption which devours the commodities on the world’s markets. He reminds him of what is good. We see the goodness of the family in their meager meal, but their love and happiness and thankfulness even in their suffering. He contrasts that with Scrooge’s own experience in life. The ghost does not ask Scrooge to begin an orphanage or find a cure for the ambulatory challenged. What is required of him? To do justice to his employee. To love kindness and to walk humbly. The final message of the ghost of Christmas present is a warning. If the family that needs his help and care does not receive it, Tiny Tim will be dead in a year. But the future is not yet decided...and neither is yours.
But the future is not yet decided...and neither is yours.
'Til next Sunday, Daniel
